NetGrocer.com Launches Pet Supply Center

Online grocery retailer NetGrocer added a new pet supply center that provides necessities for dogs, cats, gerbils, hamsters and birds.

The company said that unlike other Internet sellers of pet supplies, NetGrocer eliminates the "pet supply premium" paid by Web-shoppers whose shipping charges are calculated by weight, not order amount. In addition, many pet supplies are sent free of shipping charges with grocery items.

NetGrocer said it introduced the pet supply center in response to growing customer demand for one-stop shopping that encompasses all of their shopping needs. Brands carried include Hartz, Purina and Fancy Feast.

"Our customers emphatically told us that they wanted to be able to take care of their pets in the same, quick-click way that they stock their pantries, fill their medicine chests and purchase their gifts at NetGrocer," said President and CEO Fred Horowitz.

"And they didn't want to be ripped off with excessive shipping charges just because a bag of dog food weighs more than a box of pasta."
