JazzGarage this week announced the grand opening of its jazz distribution Web site, an alternative way for musicians to release, publish and market original jazz music on the Web via the MP3 format.
Through JazzGarage, musicians can publish their original jazz compositions on the Web, and members can download the music on a cost-per-tune basis.
JazzGarage is the first music publishing site that enables musicians to upload their music for free and then receive a 50 percent share of the member download fees. Additionally, musicians benefit by publishing their music for a global audience, and gaining feedback from JazzGarage members through online discussions and reviews.
As the JazzGarage library grows into the premier original jazz music Web site, members will be able to sample at no cost, and download original jazz music arranged by genre (e.g., combo, bebop, cool, fusion, Afro-Cuban etc.), geographic origin and artist at seventy cents per song. Membership to JazzGarage is free, and members, visitors and media are invited to contribute to the JazzGarage community through the "Sounding Board," JazzGarage's discussion forum.
