Digital River Signs Partnership Deal with Staples

Digital commerce outsourcing company Digital River signed an electronic software delivery (ESD) partnership with office supplies retailer Staples Inc.

For the first time, Staples.com will offer its online customers downloadable software titles. Financial arrangements were not disclosed.

"Offering downloadable software titles online is another key way we can achieve our company mission to slash the cost and hassle of running an office," said Jonathan Magasanik, vice president of merchandising for Staples.

"Our partnership with Staples, a premiere office supplies retailer, greatly enhances Digital River's visibility in this rapidly growing market," said Joel Ronning, CEO of Digital River.

Staples said it will also take advantage of Digital River's eBot utility, a digital product assistant that helps keep end-users' computers up-to-date and loaded with the latest technology.

Launched in fall 1998, Staples.com serves the home office and business customer via the Internet, offering more than 6,000 products.

Digital River provides more than 5,000 software publishers and online retailers with its proprietary technology for Internet delivery of more than 100,000 digital products, including 30,000 software products and applications.
