New Large-Scale E-Commerce Program Offered

SciCode released Webfuel, a new e-commerce package targeted at large online catalog and business to business markets, consisting of a Web-specific programming language, server and other features.

Webfuel allows rapid development of e-commerce solutions with complete platform independence and native database connectivity to legacy systems, the company said.

The foundation of the software package is a standards-based programming language designed specifically for e-commerce, which has been in development for over two years, the company said.

A site programmed in Webfuel has "unprecedented reliability and can handle an enormous database of items and heavy user traffic," SciCode said. Also included in the package is a browser-based administration program, which allows the user control over implementation and maintenance of commerce functions.

"The Webfuel package is so broad that it is easily adaptable to any line of business, yet it can be easily administered by even a novice computer user," said Jon Siegelman, president of SciCode.

"Included in this package is a promotion module with an incredible array of options. It allows for everything from a global promotion for the whole site to a single promotion that triggers only when a user buys a certain product at a certain quantity in a special price group. And there is even the ability to override default promotions for those special customers."

Price points were not disclosed.
