Autoweb.com, Saturn Extend Alliance

Autoweb.com Thursday extended an e-commerce alliance with Saturn Corp. that spans across its entire retail network.

Customers of the leading Internet car shopping service have Saturn representation in every state nationwide. Based on location, consumers on Autoweb.com can choose from up to three retailers to whom they want to send a purchase request.

Once the request is submitted, Autoweb.com (AWEB) and Saturn contact the customer within one business day with a price quote.

Autoweb.com was a partner of Saturn's successful pilot program since March 1999 that led to the extension of both companies' alliance.

"Our long-term alliance with Saturn further positions Autoweb.com as an unbiased link between consumers, dealers and manufacturers," said Sam Hedgpeth, president and chief operating officer of Autoweb.com.

"Saturn's well-recognized brand, excellent customer service and innovative products are essential ingredients in our overall partnership strategy. We partner with those companies that provide the best buying experience for Internet consumers."

In September, Autoweb.com bought the automotive-data unit of Canada's Thomson Corp. information center for $20 million in cash and stock to add services such as repair guides to its site.
