Sterling Commerce Rolls Out Two New Software Products

Dallas-based Sterling Commerce Inc. released VECTOR:Desktop and VECTOR:Storage, new software products designed to help financial institutions increase productivity and lower costs.

"Most financial institutions use mainframes for the majority of their applications," said Sydney Smith Hicks, vice president of operations and marketing, banking systems division, Sterling Commerce. "Using an institution's existing hardware, VECTOR:Desktop integrates powerful mainframe applications with information contained in the client/server environment."

VECTOR:Desktop leverages the best in mainframe and client/server Technologies, offering pull-down menus and easy-to-understand commands, the company said.

VECTOR:Storage solves storage needs by electronically archiving information, allowing immediate accessibility. Operators have almost instant access to seven-years' worth of archived information, Sterling said.

Pricing for the products was not disclosed.
