Digital River to Distribute Eudora Software

Digital River Inc. said it signed an agreement with QUALCOMM to provide Internet distribution of QUALCOMM's Eudora e-mail software through Digital River's network of more than 100 online dealers.

The Eudora family of software products has an installed base of over 18 million users, according to QUALCOMM. Digital River said it will provide QUALCOMM with the secure delivery technology and infrastructure necessary to effectively market and distribute its software products to end users via the Internet. Financial details were not disclosed.

"Online distribution is proving to be the channel of choice for a growing number of electronic products, because it delivers directly the point of need--the consumer's home or office computer," said Joel Ronning, Digital River's president and chief executive officer.

Headquartered in San Diego, QUALCOMM develops, manufactures, markets, licenses, and operates advanced communications systems and products based on its proprietary digital wireless technologies.

In addition to the Eudora family of software products, the company's primary product areas are the OmniTRACS system (a geostationary satellite-based, mobile communications system providing two-way data and position reporting services), CDMA wireless communications systems and products, and, in conjunction with others, the development of the Globalstar low-earth-orbit (LEO) satellite communications system.

Digital River said it has partnered with more than 1,200 software publishers and online dealers to implement its proprietary technology for Internet delivery of software and other digital products.
