BancTec to Deliver E-Commerce Solutions

Dallas-based payment processing company BancTec Inc. unveiled a four-stage program for implementing electronic commerce technology.

Stage one is to install a Windows NT-based electronic bill presentment and bill payment system using the same process streams as current paper- or image-based processing.

While paper- and image-based processing continue to dominate the payment processing field, it's clear that electronic commerce will be gaining ground quickly, the company said. Providing seamless integration between paper, image and electronic processing, BancTec said its e-commerce solution has the advantage of giving customers three different processing channels, all from within a single system.

Stage one is scheduled to roll out this fall and will be marketed through BancTec's end-user sales distribution group worldwide. The next three stages currently in development--business to business, e-banking and e-POS (point of sale)--will offer customers greater flexibility as they move toward a paperless environment.

BancTec specializes in automated applications solutions for the banking, financial services, insurance, healthcare, government, utility, telecommunications, and retail industries. The company offers document workflow and imaging software products, network support services for local area networks and personal computers, and document processing equipment for OEM customers.
