Imagine Radio, CDnow Team Up

Imagine Radio, an online network of radio stations designed specifically for the Internet, formed an exclusive partnership agreement with online music store Imagine Radio.

Through this partnership, listeners can simply click on their Imagine Radio tuners to access CDnow's 250,000 music related items, and order music while they are listening to Imagine Radio without ever leaving their computer, the companies said.

Imagine Radio will install a CDnow "buy it" button on Imagine Radio. Additionally, the relationship agreement provides CDnow with advertising exposure on Imagine Radio. Financial arrangements were not disclosed.

Leveraging the tuner's powerful "synchronized multimedia ads"--audio advertisements presented with corresponding ad banners--CDnow can connect to listeners with both audio and visual messages. With synchronized multimedia ads, listeners can immediately respond to audio advertising from CDnow by clicking on a corresponding ad banner displayed within the Imagine Radio tuner.

Said Jason Olim, president and CEO of Pennsylvania-based CDnow: "With this partnership, CDnow will once again meld new and traditional media approaches by delivering audio messages and banner advertising simultaneously. Imagine Radio's listeners will be able to learn more about the artists they're listening to and buy the music at the same time."

Imagine Radio, an entrepreneurial venture of Brisbane, CA-based Imagine Media, offers 16 genre-based stations.

In related news, CDnow and MTV Networks announced today a three-year, $22.5 million cash and stock agreement aimed at integrating the companies' content and products.
