NextPlanetOver Will Add Business-to-Consumer Auctions

Entertainment hobbyist site NextPlanetOver said it will add a business-to-consumer auction area to its site in order to give traditional retailers of entertainment collectibles a place to sell their products online.

The auction area will include graphic novels and comic books, collectible card and role-playing games, action figures, toys, TV- and film-related memorabilia and exclusive original art pieces.

Retailers that partner with NextPlanetOver to sell products through the company's auction area will be able to brand their own stores. Items posted for auction will be cross-merchandised with related products, content, and community events elsewhere on the NPO site.

"We want to cater to both the retailer and the consumer by being more responsive to retailers than other auction sites, and by focusing on our customers' product interests," said David Reid, cofounder and COO of NextPlanetOver.

"What our auction area provides is a place for sellers of a specific category of merchandise to connect with the people who are dedicated to buying those types of products."

NextPlanetOver markets TV- and movie-related gear, action figures, graphic novels and comics, games, Japanese imports, anime, and features original articles and online forums. The company is backed by @Ventures, the venture capital affiliate of CMGI Inc., and IDG Ventures.
