NetObjects Teams With E-Commerce Vendors

NetObjects Inc. said it is working with iCat and two other e-commerce vendors to develop components within 90 days that extend the capabilities of the company's NetObjects Fusion 3.0 and NetObjects TeamFusion site building software.

The extensions will enable the easy creation (drag and drop) of electronic commerce sites, said the Redwood City, CA-based company. The company also is working with Breakthrough Software and Internet Factory.

The move is the first stage of NetObjects' e-commerce strategy, which aims to establish NetObjects Fusion and NetObjects TeamFusion as Web site authoring environments for a broad range of e-commerce solutions.

Mirroring its successful integration and partnering strategy for dynamic database connectivity via database middleware, NetObjects said its e-commerce thrust leverages the company's open site building environment to enable developers to create Java-based components that extend the capabilities of NetObjects Fusion and NetObjects TeamFusion.

Said Dave Kleinberg, NetObjects' executive vice president of products: "Our e-commerce strategy is based on the three principles of open technology, partnerships with best-of-breed vendors and out-of-the-box solutions that address a broad range of customer needs."

The NetObjects product family consists of NetObjects Fusion Personal Edition for entry-level site builders, NetObjects Fusion 3.0 for experienced site builders, NetObjects TeamFusion for site building teams and NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.0 for scripting.
