Sameday.com Opens Chicago Delivery Center

Startup fulfillment and delivery company Sameday.com, formerly called Shipper.com, has opened a 114,000-square-foot location in Chicago.

The company said that with the addition of the new facility, it will be able to provide same-day delivery to four of the largest markets in the U.S., encompassing all suburbs and cities surrounding Los Angeles, San Francisco/San Jose, New York City and Chicago.

Opening an average of one new facility per month, Sameday.com said it will begin servicing customers from centers in Dallas, Atlanta, Washington DC, Memphis and Seattle by the third quarter of 2000. The company also plans some international locations by the end of this year. Each facility is complemented with a proprietary fleet of delivery vans.

Sameday.com also operates an e-commerce site that allows consumers to select products from multiple retailers. Consumers who buy products by 2 p.m. will receive them by 8 p.m., 365 days a year, the company said.

"We are looking forward to offering Chicago area consumers free Sameday delivery and low-cost next day delivery of goods ordered online via our Sameday.com service," said Alex Nesbitt, president and chief executive officer of Sameday.com.

Sameday.com's Chicago fulfillment center will also be used to provide B2B critical parts fulfillment and delivery to customers.
