Digital Paths launched a deluxe version of its DPWeb service that will enable mobile device users to conduct secure e-commerce transactions.
The deluxe version, designated DPWebDX, is aimed at users of Internet-enabled wireless devices such as the Palm VII personal digital assistant (PDA), smart phones and hand-held computers.
Like its predecessor, DPWebDX also will provide unrestricted access to Internet sites by transforming Web pages into displays suitable for hand-held devices. The deluxe service may be downloaded at no charge for basic browsing functions, but a one-time registration fee will be charged for enhanced services.
Mobile appliance users that browse via the Digital Paths portal receive data reformatted from the HTML Web standard to the special requirements of each device. The type of device is automatically recognized by the Digital Paths server at log-on.
