iSleuth.com Inks Inktomi E-Commerce Partnership

Search engine iSleuth.com and Inktomi this week announced an alliance to create a comparative e-commerce shopping service using new Inktomi software currently under development.

The new e-commerce service will be employed in the iSleuth Marketplace and provide access to more than 200 online retailers and 500,000 products, segmented into 14 key product categories.

Products include apparel and jewelry, books and magazines, computer hardware, software and games, electronics, car audio equipment, flowers, cards and gifts, home and garden products and appliances, music, movies and videos, office supplies, sporting goods and toys and games.

A preview of the Marketplace can be seen at the company's Web site.

"The iSleuth Marketplace, as well as our new alliance with Inktomi that has enabled its development, represents a major step forward in our efforts to build the iSleuth.com site into a one-stop portal for Internet users," said John J. Bennett, chairman, president and chief executive officer of iSleuth.com.

"With our average monthly site traffic now at approximately 350,000 visitors and growing, we see it as an important opportunity to significantly expand site traffic and e-commerce revenues."

Founded in 1995, The Internet Sleuth site and search engine originally operated as a non-commercial site geared towards institutional and educational researchers. It was acquired by Isleuth.com in 1998 and become a gateway.
