VC3 Launches GovHost.com as B2G ASP

Systems integrator VC3 Inc. formed a new division, GovHost.com, to provide expanded ASP services to the local government marketplace.

The company said it will offer a suite of hosted Virtual Government and line of business solutions to small and medium-sized local governments via an ASP business model.

Meanwhile, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Company and Silicon Valley venture firm Mayfield Partners led a $39.2 million round of investment in rival start-up govWorks, which said it will use the money to build out its technology and market its services to city and state governments throughout the nation.

The GovHost product suite includes 13 Virtual Government modules that are hosted individually or as a create-your-own-suite for cities and counties.

The modules allow local governments to provide online services to their citizens by outsourcing, without hiring additional IT staff.

"VC3 has been providing Virtual Government services since 1998, but decided the move to an ASP-based model was more conducive and affordable for the small/medium government (SMG) marketplace," said David Dunn, president of GovHost.com and CEO of VC3.

The modules hosted by GovHost.com include: GovHost.ServiceRequest, GovHost.Permit, GovHost.UtilityBil, GovHost.PropertyTax, GovHost.Citation (traffic tickets) and GovHost.BillNotification. GovHost.com customizes each module to provide an individual "look and feel" that integrates with a municipality's existing Web site.
