The agreement provides for a direct link from the AltaVista homepage to the new law channel provided by USLaw.com
The new co-branded Law Channel is part of the AltaVista personalized portal service, which offers "deep content channels that deliver relevant, immediate and customizable content from the Web," AltaVista said.
Earlier this month, USLaw.com raised $10 million in venture capital. The round was led by UBS Capital Americas LLC, with a significant investment from Grand Central Holdings.
The new Law Channel will provide information in seven specific areas: Commercial Law, where small business owners can learn how to incorporate, form partnerships, deal with employment issues, etc.; Health/Injuries; Money/Personal Finance; Employment law; Family Law; Property/Real Estate; and Crime and the Courts.
Content on the Law Channel will be promoted throughout the AltaVista Network comprising search, shopping, new media and community services. Additionally, visitors to the Law Channel on the AltaVista Network will have the opportunity to find a lawyer from USLaw.com's first-of-its-kind Law Affiliate Network, a network of solo practitioners and small law firms across the country.
"This relationship solidifies USLaw.com's position as the dominant provider of legal solutions for consumers and small businesses," said Neal J.B. Simon, president and chief executive officer of USLaw.com.
"AltaVista is a partner that provides clear value to our business, and its extensive reach will make it easier for consumers and small businesses to access the attorneys in our Law Affiliate Network."
