Deja.com Launches Automotive Shopping Resource

Marking yet another entrant in the online automotive wars, Deja.com Inc., which started life as a Usenet discussion group site and has morphed into a provider of comparison shopping information, launched a new automotive shopping resource.
An expansion of the company's Precision Buying Service, the resource is designed to help consumers decide exactly what products to buy and where to buy them
Deja.com said its automotive channel simplifies car shopping by offering prospective buyers access to in-depth specifications, tools to select and compare automobiles, consumer-generated ratings and reviews, professional reviews from industry-leading content-providers and product-related discussion forums.
Initially launched with a focus on new automobiles, motorcycles and accessories, the automotive shopping service will also soon include used cars, the company said.
Automobile specs on the site are compiled by Chrome Data Corp. Automotive experts include contributors from Automobile Magazine, Edmunds.com and NewCarTestDrive.com. Deja.com also includes a dynamic "Top 25" listing of consumers' favorite automobiles, based on ratings contributed to the site.
Using Deja.com's real-time Product Wizard, consumers can compare automobiles based on criteria including price, manufacturer, safety features, transmission, fuel efficiency (MPG), engine size, number of doors and vehicle type (hatchback, coupe, sports car or sedan).
Deja.com is a full-featured buyer's portal that provides consumers with tools and resources for determining what products to buy and where to buy them. The company's Usenet Discussion Service provides easy and fast access to approximately 35,000 Usenet discussion forums. The company also operates Deja Business Solutions, a licensing unit for its content and proprietary technologies.
