Streamsearch, Audible Plan to Partner

StreamSearch and Audible Inc. plan to enter a multi-year agreement to increase the distribution of audiobooks and spoken audio programs via the Internet, according to Rob Shambro, founder and chief executive officer, StreamSearch.com and Thomas Baxter, president and chief executive officer of Audible, Inc.

The alliance, which is expected to be announced later this week, is intended to bring audible.com to a broader audience and will offer StreamSearch users an opportunity to experience and purchase audio from the Audible site.

Visitors to SS.com and its affiliates will be able to find and access Audible content from key print newspapers and periodicals, fiction and nonfiction books, foreign language-learning and time-shifted radio programming.

With StreamSearch's targeted search capabilities, users are linked to audio and video streams within 2 clicks. Audible.com is the major content provider in StreamSearch's new audiobooks channel launching Wednesday, including more than 30 genres - among them arts, sci-fi, humor, self-help and business.

Audible.com offers a diverse selection of spoken word audio, with over 11,000 programs and more than 22,000 hours of audio. Through StreamSearch, visitors will be able to sample excerpts or buy from audible.com a wide range of titles such as comedian Dennis Miller's I Rant, Therefore I Am; Melissa Bank's The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing, Dr. Ruth Westheimer's Sex for Dummies and daily selected audio content from The Wall Street Journal. In addition, audible.com will be hosting a column of the top ten best-selling spoken digital audiobooks.
