buy.com Launches Business 'Superstore'

Multi-category Internet retailer buy.com launched a new business "superstore" designed to meet the growing needs of what it called a "significant business customer base."

The company said the new store on a newly designed and enhanced Web site offers more than 55,000 office products in 11 categories, including office equipment and supplies, furniture, shipping supplies, janitorial supplies, phone systems, books and computer hardware and software.

buy.com also said it is able to offer its business customers a wireless solution due to its recent acquisition of Telstreet.com, an e-tailer of wireless phones, service and accessories.

buy.com said its business customers can choose between two payment options, a revolving line of credit, or a corporate "net 30" account.

"The launch of our business superstore gives us a great opportunity to provide a broader mix of products to our over half a million small business customers by leveraging our virtual operating model and creating a complete business solution," said Greg Hawkins, CEO of buy.com.

The company has chosen e-NITED Business Solutions, the e-commerce and fulfillment services division of United Stationers, to be one of its distribution partners to fulfill orders for the business store.
