Nordstrom.com Selects AltaVista Search Engine

Nordstrom.com signed an agreement with AltaVista Business Solutions allowing the department store e-commerce site to employ AltaVista Search Engine 3.0 to let customers search for products.

Web search firm AltaVista Co. is a majority-owned operating unit of CMGI Inc.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"As we continue to add more to our online selection, we want to ensure that our customers can quickly find what they want," said Paul Onnen, chief technology officer at Nordstrom.com. "AltaVista's search technology is proven, easy to implement and enhances our customers' online experience through the delivery of immediate, customized search results."

AltaVista Business Solutions licenses AltaVista search engine products and hosted services to e-commerce companies, portals and global enterprises and has more than 850 customers worldwide.
