Adventures in the Travel Space

Online travel information provider Fodors.com signed a deal that will provide its users on-site access to both content and booking capability from adventure travel agency iExplore.

The deal calls for Fodors.com to incorporate iExplore's content and searchable database of more than 5,000 trips in 152 countries into its Adventure Travel area. Financial arrangements were not disclosed.

Trips range from cultural tours, expeditionary cruises and culinary adventures to safaris, hiking and white-water rafting.

Using iExplore's database, Fodors.com users will be able to research and purchase trips from more than 100 tour operators and will be able to consult with iExplore's staff of travel experts.

"Our users can now quickly obtain vast adventure travel and exploration content, plus direction to the company best equipped to make those dreams a reality," said Brent Peich, vice president and general manager of Fodors.com.

Other booking partners at Fodors.com include Expedia.com and Bedandbreakfast.com. Fodors.com provides travel content, customized mini-guides for more than 200 destinations worldwide, real-time guidance and interactive forums. It is a unit of Fodors LLC, a subsidiary of Random House, which is owned by by Bertelsmann AG.
