Redmond, WA-based InfoSpace.com launched an online store that sells flowers, gifts and greeting cards through the company's network of affiliates, including AOL, the Microsoft Network and Netscape.
"Our expanded e-commerce strategy creates a handy gift shop for Internet users searching our white page directories on any affiliate site by placing items such as cards and flowers in the Net equivalent location of a traditional retailer's point-of-purchase displays," said Naveen Jain, chairman and CEO of InfoSpace.com. "Since our directories have an unduplicated reach higher than all other Internet directories combined, this is a great opportunity for us."
Jain also said InfoSpace.com plans to expand its e-commerce offerings to include additional products and services that fit with InfoSpace.com's existing offerings during the coming year. In addition, InfoSpace.com sells links from its white pages for additional shared revenue streams.
InfoSpace.com is provider of private label solutions for content and commerce. Internet affiliates include Lycos, Go2Net Inc.'s MetaCrawler, EarthLink, Dow Jones (The Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition), ABC LocalNet and CBS's affiliated TV stations.
