Chapters Internet Becomes Book Retailer for ClickThrough Interactive

Toronto-based Chapters Internet said it has signed an exclusive agreement with ClickThrough Interactive to become the online book retailer of choice for ClickThrough's ad network of 65 Canadian Web sites.

The deal is the first of its kind between a Canadian e-commerce company and a Web site network, Chapters said. Financial specifics were not disclosed.

Books will be sold directly on the affiliates' Web sites. ClickThrough's Web site network attracts more than 25 million visitors per month and includes sites such as Canada NewsWire, The Fund Library, The Life Network, The Weather Network and Canadian Living.

The Chapters affiliate program enables companies and organizations to sell books from Chapters directly to their Web site visitors. Chapters pays a commission on sales generated through an affiliate's site.

"At ClickThrough we're continually looking for ways to add value and grow revenue for the Web sites in our network. By leveraging the strength of our network, both Chapters Internet and the ClickThrough Web sites benefit," said Jay Aber, president of ClickThrough Interactive. "A large number of the sites in our network have already expressed interest in becoming a Chapters affiliate."
