SmartDisk's Smarty Integrated into Online Gambling System

Naples, FL-based smart card company SmartDisk Corp. said it has integrated its Smarty smart card reader/writer with online gambling applications.

Smarty is being distributed by Fischer International Systems Corp., a non- exclusive distributor of SmartDisk products, and Alliance Gaming Corp., the parent company of Bally Gaming & Systems.

The Smarty reader/writer is an integral part of Alliance's RAVE (Remote Access Verification Environment), a proprietary solution that allows users to wager from a remote location on sporting events or even make individual plays using their personal computers.

Alliance has licensed RAVE exclusively in the state of Nevada to International Sports Wagering Inc., a company that owns the online SportXction wagering system. RAVE features include the verification of a customer's identity and location to safeguard against unauthorized users. The Nevada State Gaming Control Board has approved RAVE for PC-based race and sports wagering within Nevada state boundaries, the companies said.

The Smarty smart card reader/writer acts as a bridge between a smart card and a PC. Smarty has the same dimensions as a 3.5-inch floppy disk and includes a slot into which a smart card can be inserted.
