Liquid Cooled Gaming PCs Launched

"Holy overclocking, Batman," PC maker Systemax Thursday unveiled a new line of what it calls "Extreme Gaming PCs."

The Port Washington, N.Y.-based company said its new Double-X series can be custom built with the latest Intel or AMD processors, super high-speed memory chips, dual high-capacity hard drives and a liquid cooled chassis.

The company says an elaborate system of pipes and fans inside the computer acts like a car's radiator, circulating liquid coolant that dissipates heat away from critical components such as the CPU, hard drives, video cards and motherboard chipset.

"In the elite world of high-speed gaming, heat is the enemy of high performance computer parts," said Systemax chairman and CEO Richard Leeds. "By monitoring and controlling internal heat conditions, the Double-X allows hardcore gamers to safely squeeze out the last megahertz of speed from their systems."

The basic Double-X PC Gaming Systems retail for $899 and contain either an Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP processor, NVIDIA or ATI video cards, 7200 RMP IDE hard drives with optional RAID, CDRW, DVD, DVD-RW drives, advanced audio with optional Klipsch Promedia speakers, quiet chassis fans, optical scroll mouse, six-in-one multimedia card reader and Microsoft Windows XP Home, Pro.

For example, the $3,799 Systemax Double X U28 has an Intel P4 2.8GHz 512K 533FSB Socket N Processor with 512MB PC800-40 of Non-ECC RDRAM (256MB x 2), two 120GB Ultra ATA (7200rpm) RAID Hard Drives, a GeForce4 MX440 64MB DDR Graphics Card with TV-Out, a 48x12x48 (max) CDRW Drive, 16x (max) DVD ROM, and a Creative SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum Sound Card.

The top-end model with the AMD model has an Athlon XP Processor 2200+ with QuantiSpeed Architecture, and retails for $3,399.

And, while Systemax does not condone overclocking, the PC all come with a one-year parts and labor guarantee.

"Just like auto racing, you want to be associated with the fastest machines on the circuit," said Systemax Director of OEM Marketing Sean Aryai. "No other gaming PC on the market today surpasses the Double-X in its ability to unleash the tremendous power and speed of our PCs."

Systemax said the new models can be purchased online at www.systemaxpc.com, www.globalcomputer.com, www.tigerdirect.com, www.dartek.com or through other distributors.
