VeriSign, Xedia Team for Secure VPNs

Enterprise firm VeriSign Inc. Wednesday signed a deal with Xedia Corp., a provider of Internet access routers, to integrate their products and services to deliver extended digital certificate services for virtual private networks.

In Wednesday's agreement, Xedia will integrate VeriSign's (VRSN) digital certificate services into its Access Point QVPN. Access Point is designed to offer IP routing, VPN tunneling and encryption, firewall services, IP QoS and service level management for corporate networks.

The two companies said that by working together, they can provide a comprehensive large-scale VPN for large enterprises.

"The deployment of secure remote-access controls via electronic credentials is crucial to companies as they continue to establish and expand their business presence on the Internet," said Mary Anderson, VeriSign's vice president of enterprise product marketing.

"Integrating VeriSign's digital certificate services into Xedia's Access Point QVPN will give enterprises a solution that enables quick and easy deployment of a scalable site-to-site and remote access VPN."
