The two companies plan to co-market the instant intranet, which provides businesses with an affordable, secure and customizable solution.
Planet Intra allows users to organize and group information in a format that is accessible by all team members. The solution also provides a calendar, contact manager and highly efficient search engine that enables users to scan their Intranet knowledge base. The company recently made its intranet software available in English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese.
Planet Intra software has been certified by IBM (IBM) and is effective on both Linux and NT platforms. Clients may apply for a free trial of the 10-user version of Planet Intra. Planet Intra is available in either a licensed application or a hosted Web-based system with costs dependent on the number of users.
In other news, IBM continued its strides in the enterprise sector by teaming with open source provider Red Hat Inc. in a licensing and distribution agreement for IBM's Java software for Linux components of today's e-commerce applications. Red Hat (RHAT) will offer clients IBM's Java Runtime engine, Java Virtual Machine and the IBM Developer Kit for Linux.
