The companies' goal is to offer a Linux-based management solution packaged for small- and medium-sized businesses. With the agreement, Red Hat (RHAT) will fulfill orders through its Web site, channel partners and through telesales campaigns. CA (CA) and Red Hat will co-market the solution and conduct training through joint product seminars, channel programs and education courses.
In turn, CA's direct sales organization will sell Red Hat's enterprise support agreements to Unicenter TNG clients. The companies hope their clients will benefit from CA's IT applications running on Red Hat's Linux enterprise series.
A recent MERIT survey revealed that 48 percent of enterprise customers view Linux as an important component to their enterprise IT strategy for 2000.
