GTE Internetworking to Offer Enterprise Web Services

GTE Internetworking unveiled this week an integrated Internet service solution targeting enterprises.

Re@ch Enterprise is designed to provide Global 2000 companies with the tools necessary for extending their businesses to the Web.

The Re@ch service comprises three components: Knowledge Re@ch, an extranet-based service that facilitates the delivery of information to a corporation's customers and partners; Commerce Re@ch, an e-commerce application that includes online catalog, order fulfillment, and delivery services; and Service Re@ch, an electronic customer support service that enables users to track billing and shipment information.

Eastman Software, a subsidiary of Eastman Kodak, is one such company that implemented the enterprise solution, setting up a corporate extranet entitled The Knowledge eXchange (TKX). GTE Internetworking had built and now hosts TKX with Eastman, which provides Eastman employees and business partners with a source to access corporate data, show product demos, or collaborate on projects.

Knowledge Re@ch, incorporating technologies from Oracle, Netscape, and Verity, is available now. Commerce Re@ch is accessible now as a component of Knowledge Re@ch or as a standalone service. Users will be able to subscribe to the Service Re@ch service later this year.
