CRYPTOCard, Netegrity Partner to Deliver Web Security App

CRYPTOCard and Netegrity Inc. formed a partnership to provide customers with a beefed up Web security solution.

Customers can now combine Toronto-based CRYPTOCard's strong authentication and Waltham, MA-based Netegrity's Web Access Control System to protect business information delivered through Web-based applications.

The companies said they will also work closely together on sales, marketing, and support initiatives.

As an integrated solution, Netegrity's SiteMinder Server now natively supports CRYPTOCard's authentication capabilities. By enabling administrators to assign users either a username/password or a token card, organizations can now protect intranet and extranet applications--in full and in part--according to appropriate confidentiality levels.

"In the case of a Web application, the one-time password (provided by tokens) assures more secure access, particularly when sensitive or confidential information is being sent to a browser over the Web," said Michael Goulde, senior analyst at Patricia Seybold Group of Boston, MA. "(CRYPTOCard's) Java token opens up tremendous possibilities for providing a highly secure single logon."

"Adding support for CRYPTOCard to SiteMinder is an important step towards our goal of enabling customers to choose the authentication scheme that is appropriate for their business applications," said Jim Rosen, vice president of marketing at Netegrity.
