Network Associates released Internet Zero Administration Client (iZAC), a software distribution solution that enables companies to receive updated software over the Internet and redistribute it over their intranets automatically.
"As companies move to integrate corporate intranets with the Internet to create the backbone for internal communications, integrated security and streamlined network management will become a truly mission-critical component of corporate infrastructures. Network Associates' innovation in electronic software distribution is again leading the pack by giving network administrators the benefits of push technology," said Ira Machefsky, VP and senior analyst at Giga Information Group.
iZAC uses technology from BackWeb Technologies in its SecureCast component which handles the Internet push distribution. To look after the Intranet distribution, iZAC uses the vendor's own Zero Administration Client (ZAC) Suite, an integrated asset management solution.
In operation, SecureCast broadcasts software updates over the Internet to the ZAC console, and these automatically go to the ZAC intranet software distribution database where they are under the control of IS managers.
