CyberGuard Beefs Up Firewall

Internet security firm CyberGuard Corp., Tuesday unveiled enhancements for its UnixWare Firewall, designed especially to meet the increased security demands resulting from current e-commerce applications.

The new features are made to allow for virtual private network (VPN) capability, central and remote management and time-based packet filtering for enterprise network environments.

"This enhanced CyberGuard Firewall meets the needs of customers who demand a failsafe solution that can secure their enterprise networks and protect their e-commerce applications," said Tommy Steele, chief operating officer of CyberGuard. "By supporting high availability, our customers gain non-stop firewall protection in the event of hardware or system failure."

Steele said the VPN feature will secure the growing number of e-commerce transactions on the Internet.

"The new VPN option assures enterprise users that their e-commerce applications and other mission-critical Web-based systems can function at the highest possible level of performance," he said.

The CyberGuard Firewall starts at $3,590.
