Infoseek Corp. Wednesday released a version of Ultraseek Server 3.0 for the Linux operating system.
Ultraseek Server allows companies to index and search content stored on the Internet and corporate intranets. The product first shipped in November.
Infoseek made the announcement Wednesday at the LinuxWorld conference, which runs through Thursday at the San Jose (Calif.) Convention Center. Linux is a free variant of the Unix operating system that is quickly gaining acceptance among both individuals and corporate America.
Andrew Feit, vice president and general manager of Infoseek's software division, said the addition of a Linux version demonstrates the company's multi-platform commitment. Versions are also available for Windows NT and Sun's Solaris.
The product costs $995 for sites containing 1,000 documents and $4,995 for a 10,000-document version. A free trial version is available here.
