Nokia Launches High-Speed Network

In an attempt to speed up its infrastructure for Internet service and network providers, Nokia Thursday debuted a business solution to enable high speed Internet access and virtual private networks for business users.

Based on multirate symmetric digital subscriber line (MSDSL) technology, the Nokia Dedicated IP Access solution combines DSL equipment with IP routing technology and network management. It can be used to provide high-speed intranet services, high-speed business Internet access, VPN and remote working.

The main elements in this solution are the Nokia Eksos i20 edge router, Eksos M7 MSDSL modem and VPN200 orIP400 integrated firewall routers. The solution can also be used to increase the broadband efficiency of local area networks, the company said.

"The Nokia Dedicated IP Access solution brings real broadband connectivity to the office, removing bottlenecks in traditional networks," says Jussi Ilmarinen, Nokia Telecommunications' vice president, fast Internet solutions.

"There is a clear demand for high bandwidth solutions as networks evolve to carry increasing volumes of data traffic. Nokia is able to meet those requirements, incorporating world-class routing and security features."

The solution was introduced at this week's CeBIT 99 trade show in Hanover, Germany.
