Among the features provided by Certifiedemail.com are: assurance of delivery, with notification when recipients pick up the message; communication in a secure, encrypted environment; and a guarantee against viruses, the company said. The company claimed it is "less expensive--and much faster--than conventional services," and "appeals to consumers and businesses alike." "We're delighted to officially open for business and offer customers peace of mind about the reliability of their Internet correspondence," said Court Coursey, Certifiedemail.com's founder and CEO. "We're also pleased that we can offer users of registered mail and overnight delivery services a faster and more efficient means of guaranteeing delivery for less than the price of a stamp." Registered customers may use the service by logging onto a Web page and following the instructions. At any time, users may log on to check the status of the certified e-mails they have sent, in the same way that users may check the status of a FedEx package. The system notifies recipients that they have a certified e-mail message waiting for them--and gives them directions for collecting it, the firm said. The Certifiedemail.com service costs $2 to send an individual message, or users may send up to 20 messages per month for a subscription of $3.95 per month. |
