Bank of America To Offer Net Banking Through Palm VII

Bank of America plans to become the nation's first financial institution to offer wireless banking services to users of Palm Computing Inc.'s Palm VII handheld computer.

Palm VII users will have real-time access to their personal account information through a connection to Bank of America's Home Banking Web site. They will be able to check balances and obtain detailed account information using the device.

Michael DeVico, executive vice president of Bank of America's interactive banking division, said the service was a glimpse of what banking will be like in the 21st Century.

"Consumers on the go will no longer have to depend on plug-in access to quickly and easily obtain account information and do their banking. From personal computers to broadband cable networks, wireless banking is yet another example of Bank of America working to provide its customers with a wide range of access channels to conduct their banking," he said.

The deal was one of several announcements made Wednesday giving Palm users the ability to access information through the connected organizers.
