Broadcast.com, Nasdaq Partner to Deliver Conference Calls

The Nasdaq Stock Market is partnering with Broadcast.com to bring more investor information to the public.

The two sealed a deal Wednesday to broadcast the quarterly earnings conference calls for companies in the Nasdaq 100 index, a group of the largest companies that trade on the Nasdaq market.

Under the pilot program, companies in the Nasdaq 100 will be able to send up to four live audio broadcasts of earnings conference calls each year. Broadcast.com will host the calls and will create co-branded pages on its Web site. Broadcast.com will also promote the service throughout its site.

Alfred R. Berkeley, III, president of the Nasdaq Stock Market, said the pilot program will help level the playing field for individual investors.

"We would like to see Internet broadcasting become a standard corporate communications tool for public companies in the near future and are pleased to experiment with this new technology in partnership with Broadcast.com," he said.

Todd Wagner, Broadcast.com's chief executive officer, said the agreement will help establish Internet broadcasting as the standard communications tool for public companies that want to expand their investor relations activities.

"Nasdaq's endorsement brings the investor relations process one step closer to providing timely and full disclosure of corporate information to investors of all sizes--from the individual investor to a large institutional firm," he said.
