Feds Award $1.2B in Broadband Stimulus Funds

The departments responsible for doling out the $7.2 billion in stimulus funds for broadband projects are nearing the finish line. The Department of Agriculture this week announced $1.2 billion to fund broadband projects in rural and low-income parts of the country.

Agriculture, along with the Department of Commerce, expects to complete the broadband stimulus funding in September. Enterprise Networking Planet takes a look.


The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded another major wave of funding for broadband projects in rural America under the economic stimulus bill.

The Department this week announced the dispersal of $1.2 billion for 126 distinct broadband projects, aiming to connect homes and businesses as well as anchor institutions such as hospitals and police stations.
