HP Headlines SMB Launch With Desktops, Server

HP is making a pitch to the SMB market, taking the wraps off a campaign the computing giant has dubbed "Just Right IT."

Under that umbrella, the company is bringing to market a bevy of products and services that offer attractive prices and promise greater operating efficiencies. Among the headliners are the HP ProLiant MicroServer, geared as an entry buy-in for firms looking to install their first server, and new minitower desktops. Hardware Central has the details.

Under the banner of "Just Right IT," HP today launched an array of products and services priced and sized to be -- you guessed it -- just right for small and medium businesses seeking IT efficiency in tight economic times. The lineup is led by the HP ProLiant MicroServer, a $329 solution for companies seeking their first server. The AMD Athlon II-based device is half the size (10 inches tall) and uses up to 150 watts less electricity than other entry-level servers. It features up to four pluggable hard drives, flexible backup options with integrated SATA RAID, and enhanced security and control over access to confidential business information.

The Intel-based HP 500B (starting at $459) and AMD-powered 505B (starting at $429) are minitower desktops that let companies move to new PC technology along with Windows 7. They're built to expand for future business growth with hard drives up to 640GB and DDR3 memory, along with conveniently positioned bays and ports and options ranging from optical drives and discrete graphics to serial/parallel, IEEE 1394, and 802.11b/g/n wireless cards.
