Do 'Video Floods' Threaten the Enterprise?

Video is fast becoming a staple of most enterprise worker's desktops. Whether it's company-sponsored videos, or breaking news, sports and all the silly stuff that gets passed around via email, the amount of video clogging corporate networks is at an all time high.

Blue Coat Systems points to a growing threat of "video floods" that threaten to stymie network performance and access to key applications. Enterprise Networking Planet details Blue Coat's findings, and a new release the company says is designed to minimize the impact of video on the network.

Some IT shops may view such dire warnings the same way an earlier generation scoffed at that Noah guy. But network service provider Blue Coat Systems (NASDAQ: BCSI) is convinced video floods are, or soon will be, a very real threat to enterprise networks.
