iSend Lets Users Track File Deliveries

Tumbleweed Software Corp. joined with the mailing technology company Pitney Bowes to offer iSend, a Web-based service that lets users track file deliveries.

Its high levels of security are designed to protect files from theft and damage, the companies said.

"For over 75 years, Pitney Bowes has provided two million customers worldwide with practical solutions in business communications," said Jeffrey C. Smith, CEO and president of Tumbleweed Software. "With iSend, both Pitney Bowes and Tumbleweed are committed to bringing new levels of efficiency and security to satisfy the growing demand for online document delivery."

iSend is intended to complement existing e-mail and to provide a round-the-clock alternative to overnight package delivery services. It requires no special software or proprietary protocols, being hosted by the vendor and using standard Web browser clients. It integrates Adobe Acrobat to convert files to Portable Document Format (PDF), enabling all documents to be delivered and viewed, including legal contracts and even multimedia files, the firms stated.

iSend is based on Posta, Tumbleweed's flagship platform, which offers high security document delivery.
