Riverbed Accelerates Data Consolidation with Granite 2.5

Granite first debuted in February of 2012 as part of Riverbed's Edge Virtual Server Infrastructure (Edge-VSI) initiative.

"Granite sort of vacuums up all of the servers and data that are out at branch offices and pulls it back into the data center," Jerome Noll, cloud storage marketing director at Riverbed, explained to Enterprise Networking Planet.

Noll said that the new Granite 2.5 release expands on the initial promise of Granite by enabling even more consolidation of servers and storage, as well as the ability to centralize backup operations.
