Unveiled at HP's OpenView Universe '98 conference, the company said the Web-based solution provides ISPs with an end-to-end, real-time monitoring and managing tool for their networks and mail, news, and Web services.
"The skyrocketing growth of ISPs has outpaced the availability of tools and solutions needed to help ISPs grow their business more profitably," said Jeff Thiemann, general manager of HP's NetMetrix Division.
"With HP Firehunter, HP has combined its network-management expertise with its proven Internet capabilities to deliver an end-to-end management solution to help ease the growing pains for ISPs today."
The open architecture-based solution, which HP said can be installed in merely 30 minutes, also includes reporting and data mining features for collecting data and creating reports that summarize operational status.
Scheduled for availability in April for $14,950, HP OpenView Firehunter agents support HP-UX(1), Microsoft Windows NT, Sun Solaris, Linux, and FreeBSD systems.
