Concentric Offers DSL Service Packages

Concentric Network Corp. unveiled a new line of T-1 speed-equivalent DSL service packages geared to small- and medium-sized businesses in the San Francisco Bay area.

ConcentricDSL will provide Internet access ranging in speed from 144Kbps to 1.5bps over standard telephone lines. Unlike other ISDN services, however, Concentric said it will not charge usage fees on either the circuit or Internet access.

The company will offer a single, monthly price regardless of which Local Exchange Center (LEC) is used in supplying the DSL circuit. The monthly price will also cover the cost for both the DSL circuit and the Internet access charge. Prices range from $149 to $399, depending on speed.

Concentric, based in Cupertino, CA, has interconnect agreements with several DSL carriers, including NorthPoint Communications, Covad Communications, and Pacific Bell.

"Our value-added services, such as the ordering of circuits, on-site installation and simple billing, combine to offer the small and medium sized business a powerful Internet alternative," said Concentric chairman, president and CEO Henry Nothhaft. "We plan to use this simple service packaging approach as we expand our DSL offerings to other metropolitan areas across the country."
