3Com Teams With Snap! Online

3Com Corp. and C NET's Snap! Online said they have partnered in a deal aimed at providing a complete online package to dial-up modem users.

3Com's Snap! Online, which is scheduled to launch in mid-April, will feature software, search tools, brand-name Web content, customizable data, tutorials, and a selection of Internet service providers to choose from.

3Com said it plans to integrate Snap! Online with its "Connections" CD-ROM, an Internet access starter kit that is bundled with all of its subsidiary U.S. Robotics modems.

A free version of 3Com's Snap! Online is now available. The new service acts as an Internet navigation guide through a customized directory of sites and search functions. Users can also link to areas relating to 3Com's corporate products, high-bandwidth content, and community interests.

"We will provide the best of the Internet to our customers while maintaining the ability to communicate with them while they're online," said Neil Clemmons, vice president of marketing for 3Com's Personal Communications Division. "Snap!'s customization features and search tools will demonstrate the speed and depth of performance furnished by our 56k modems and enhance the overall Internet experience for our users."
