Planet Direct Signs 50 New ISPs

Planet Direct announced today it signed up over 50 new Internet Service Provider (ISP) affiliate partners to offer the company's personalized Web service in several U.S. markets.

Included in the expansion were ExecPC of Wisconsin, Florida's Cybergate, and Midwest providers including One Net, Iquest and Fort Wayne Internet.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The company said it will now reach more than 3 million Internet users throughout the country with its 300 ISP affiliates. The affiliates, according to Planet Direct, now collectively control 60% or more of the local consumer ISP market in over 20 states.

Planet Direct offers its service to ISPs focused on a particular geographic area and provides city, state and local content at all levels of the service.

"Increasingly, local ISPs are recognizing the value of offering a Web experience that is personalized and seamlessly delivered with access to the Internet," said Hans G. Hawrysz, president and CEO of Planet Direct. "We are pleased to continue adding strategic ISPs to our affiliate program, growing Planet Direct's reach, while empowering the local ISPs to provide useful, personally relevant and easy-to-use content."

Planet Direct, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CMG Information Services, Inc., has existing relationships with ISPs througout the country such as Erols, Concentric, Frontier Communications, US Internet and Telephone Data Systems (TDSNet).
