Concentric Expands DSL Service in California

Concentric Network Corp. today announced the availability of digital subscriber line (DSL) service in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area.

Concentric has been serving the San Francisco Bay area since November 1997, and is now offering ConcentricDSL in Southern California. The service is being targeted at small- to medium-sized businesses, telecommuters and individuals desiring high-speed Internet access.

Packages are available in speeds ranging from 144Kbps to 1.5Mbps at prices starting at $149 a month, including all circuit and Internet charges, the company said.

Concentric has interconnection agreements with NorthPoint Communications, Inc., a data competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) based in San Francisco, and other circuit providers, enabling the company to offer Internet and intranet access utilizing DSL local loops throughout greater Los Angeles.

"Our launch of ConcentricDSL services in the Los Angeles area is another example of how we are leading the service provider industry in the deployment and support of this technology, and positions us as California's largest DSL- based Internet services network," said Henry R. Nothhaft, chairman, president and CEO of Concentric Network.

"This is the next milestone in our national roll-out. Our vision, expertise and focus is matched by NorthPoint and other providers, and without their comprehensive DSL network of services we'd be unable to deliver fast, affordable and simple DSL options to our customers."
