Diversinet Inks GlobalServe Deal

Toronto-based Diversinet Corp., a digital certificate and PKI provider, announced it reached a licensing agreement with GlobalServe Communications Inc., a leading independent Canadian Internet service provider.

Under terms of the agreement, Diversinet will supply its Passport Certificate Server product to GlobalServe, and GlobalServe in turn will pay Diversinet a scaled license fee on a per user basis based on the number of certificates supplied. Citing the competitive nature of the industry, the companies declined to disclose financial terms of the agreement.

Diversinet develops and provides digital certificate management tools, as well as public-key infrastructure (PKI) technology for corporate networks, intranets, and the Internet for electronic commerce. The company's proprietary PKI technology offers users various security authentication applications.

GlobalServe bills itself as the largest ISP in Canada with business and residential customers in 15 markets. In addition, the company also provides related services such as network security consulting, virtual private network (VPN) support, dial-up access, dedicated connectivity, site hosting, e-commerce transaction services, Web design and training.

"GlobalServe has chosen Diversinet's Passport Certificate Server for the privacy and integrity of its solution," said Mr. Robin Dua, president & CEO of GlobalServe. "Diversinet's revolutionary approach to using digital certificates separates the authorization credentials into permits distinct from authentication certificates."

"GlobalServe exposes Diversinet to a strong customer base that already has the demand for network security and we anticipate that this will create more opportunities for Diversinet in the North American market," said Nagy Moustafa, president & CEO of Diversinet Corp.
