VeriFone Offers ISP/Merchant Solutions

Electronic payment firm VeriFone, Inc. announced today a series of new strategies, products and programs designed aimed providing Internet Service Providers (ISPs) with cost-effective and secure payment solutions for their merchants.

The vPOS (virtual point of service) Hosting Software is designed to provide ISPs with a comprehensive suite of Internet payment software, and the ability to provide hosting capabilities for multiple merchants.

Included in the hosting suite is the vPOS (virtual point of sale) 4.0 merchant payment software. It supports a full range of standard transactions including authorization, credit, reversal, void and capture--as well as recurring payment, installment payment, split shipment and purchase cards. vPOS supports both SSL and SET security protocols.

VeriFone also announced today that it formed relationships with financial institutions, service providers and other Internet commerce leaders including BroadVision, iCAT, Information Builders, INTERSHOP, Microsoft, Open Market, Oracle and VeriSign to "bring merchants complete, secure and convenient solutions for online payments."

Verifone, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hewlet-Packard Company, follows in its parent company's foosteps, as HP today announced new ISP strategies and partners today.
