Rodopi Creates Roaming Network for ISPs

ISPs now have an alternative to the iPass roaming network.

Rodopi Billing Software of San Diego, CA is building a network of ISPs that share local access privileges with other local ISPs.

According to Rodapi spokesman Arnaud Lamaire, the service which is called Rodopi Club makes is possible for small ISPs to keep customers who need access when they travel. More than 100 ISPs are now part of the network.

ISPs that participate in Rodopi Club exchange credits for the access they supply to the customers of other ISPs. To join the network, ISPs must be using Rodopi's billing software. When they join the network, ISPs can promote the additional local exchanges to their customers as their own. The distinction between the two ISPs is transparent to dial-up customers. Rodopi Billing Software tracks the amount of access time used by roaming customers.

The company recently added support for IP faxing and voice calls to its billing software. The software runs on NT and Unix, and uses a SQL database to track user accounts for ISPs.
